January 26: Kickoff 1998! Don Sullivan will host a lively ‘Improv Olympics’. Also exciting news of plans for a performance group, the A-list (directory listing of professional Alliance Actors). We need your input for listing criteria! Bring a headshot/resume as you may qualify to be added to the database. There will be a performance group with a formal showcase in October — come get the details. New script reading workshops with guest directors are in the works; think about what day would be good to have these weekly or bimonthly workshops.
February 23: Tina Van Horn will be presenting techniques for developing organic, dynamic and memorable characters for film audition and performance. Tina is a Nashville based talent and communication coach with over thirty-five years experience in the performing and communication arts. She is the founder of the Personal Power Method for Acting, a set of performance techniques which actors utilize to access and direct personal energy in order to audition and perform with dynamic charisma, magnetic self-confidence and inspired creativity. Personal Power Method performance competition winners include Heather Mathews, Best Actor 1997 IMTA, Susan Johnson, Best Actor 1998 AMTA, Shelly Moore, Miss Teen USA 1997, Chera-Lyn Cook, Miss National Sweetheart 1997.
March 30: Linda Higgs & Regina Moore, of Talent Connection Casting will explore the spice of acting. Please call 360-1824 to register to bring prepared scenes, monologues and questions. Watch out! You may be called on for a cold reading of a script. This will be a fun forum! They also offer "Casting Directors Speak Out," their slant on what actors need to know in the business.
